Are there any other hotels near the convention?

I'm looking for something under 50 dollars a night per person; I haven't the money to stay during the whole con at those expensive hotels! I'm bringing myself and two friends to the convention, and was wondering if anybody knew of apartments or condominiums local to the convention that I could stay at for a cheaper price than the Doubletree or Winston. |

Anthrocon is located in downtown Pittsburgh; The hotels we stay in usually offer rooms at $200 or more a night, plus tax. You are receiving an excellent deal from the Westin or Doubletree.

Agreed.
I, too, like to moderate expenses as much as possible, and there is always a tiny part of me that seizes when i look at the hotel costs. In general, however, my experience with hotels is that a hotel whose standard rate is close to (but not under) $50 a night often has tiles missing from the bathroom, and one that's below that may be renting rooms by the hour. By contrast, the hotels we use right now are clean, safe, well appointed, and staffed with polite, friendly ppl who take good care of us. There are probably hotels of the cheaper variety farther out, but the gas costs and the hassle of commuting more than make up for any price difference in my mind.
The deal we get on our rooms is great, considering what we could be paying, and i'd rather we keep paying what we pay right now if it means knowing that we're in accommodations where parents can feel comfortable sending their kids.

You know you can share a room, right?
We even have forums set up to facilitate that.

I'm a bit lost. You want something for less than $50 per person per night. If all three of you stay in a room in the Westin (which has a flat fee for up to four people), the cost will be somewhere on the order of $45 per night per person.
