Cliques are for my old high school, not for our forums. Sticking out tongue

It's not that it's dead, it's just not all that active this time of year. What with the actual convention something like 7 months away, there's just not all that much to talk about.

Activity will pick up as the convention gets closer.

Here's a little graph I put together of past forum activity to better illustrate my point:

Anthrocon.org forum activity

Note that we're only halfway through the month of November, so I don't have a final number for the month yet. I can state that we're on track to beat the October number though.

By "this place", to what are you making reference to? This Forum? Or New York?

Others explained about the traffic volume of the forum. As for the content, well, it's pretty much limited by the subject, but even within those limitations, some fascinationg discussions have taken place, involving posts and responses from large numbers of folks. Granted, there isn't a lot of "heat" or "Spice", but that is because we are a considerate lot and keep within the bounds of civility, that we may gain from the experience.

New York - The Hudson River Valley is a beautiful place - at least, if you have the means to travel and tramp about, and explore. The scenery is famous for inspiring a major school of american landscape art - the "Hudson River School" - which influenced many of the 19th century artists most involved in later capturing and depicting the American West and the Western Frontier, to the public along the Eastern Seaboard.

I don't deny that you may find such a place "dead"; for a 13-year old, without the means to travel about, it must seem like "the sticks", unless you live in a suburban tract of homes someplace - and then it can feel quite "mundane"; but you mention in your profile, preferring "the Desert". Which desert have you been to, and what was the attraction for you?

The forums stay fairly quiet at this time of year. Despite our high visibility drawing in a lot of new people who use us as one of their central resources for communication and/or information about furry fandom, the Anthrocon website and forums are based around a four-day summer event. We're as relatively busy right now as Superbowl.com would be in June.
