Your best bet is to look at the date stamp in the header of the first message. It will say something like "Posted by InuChan395 (Spaz) on Tue, 2008-11-11 01:18" If the date is prior to July of 2008, then it is probably an old thread. Also, if it has a gigantic box at the top of the first message that says "THIS THREAD IS FROM A PAST CONVENTION" then it's probably also an old thread.
