Had an interesting dream...

I don't have many furry convention theme dreams but they're usually notable. Last night I drempt I was leaving AC for home via train just before closing ceremonies or some other big shindig and as the train pulled away the line just kept going and going and going and going up to the next station. infact there were fursuiters there looking to commute from teh end of the like to the convention center. there had to have been in excess of 5,000 furries waiting to get in! It was the longest fursuit/furry parade ever adn it was cool, I was hanging off the train shaking hands with anyone in reach. Thank god we're moving to Hall B next year, we're gonna need the space.

What do you mean? what could possibly go wrong with 5000 furries? Really it didn't bother me because I get the feeling they were heading to Kage's story hour. But what bothered me more than the fact I was leaving AC BEFORE story hour was the combination carwash/garage built into the train.

Actually that # will become a reality even if we don't want to see that now.
A 19% growth over last year is technically wishful thinking, but became true.Given the state of the economy, that turn up is incredible. Though i believe it's partly also the spread of the internet and growth of population.
The economy *might* get better as well as the years passes by therefore that can also add attendance.
Next year be prepared for 4,000+ Laughing out loud
In 2010 we'll hit the 5,000+ mark!
Actually, i looked at music tours by popular artists in the not so popular genre and attendance had increase as well and theirs is in the tens of thousand range.

Oh it's definatly the internet, furries run teh internet so we're converting at an amazing rate. 5,000 will eventually happen but I could only wish/dread Kage's prediction on his News From the Future segment in which "the 3 week long event is expected to draw over a quarter million visitors from every continant on Google Earth" I think if that ever happend I'd start my own con because the elevators was bad enough with only 2500 furs

Natural selection would certainly favor furries in Antarctica, so probably.

The casual, careful projections of mine are for us to exceed 4,000 in 2010, and 5,000 in 2013. But attendance numbers can vary drastically - as you can see from This attendance graph. From attendance in '04 of 2406, AC's attendance dropped in '05 to 2373, and only rose in '06 to 2,489. Now, lots of circumstances made for the stagnant numbers- the new hotel and storms in '05, and the new city in '06. So we're expecting growth to continue in future years.

Mind, being the best furry convention is far more important to us than being the biggest. Smiling

I was also following the youtube videos that our attendees were putting up and i've read peoples responses.
There's quite a # of people new to all this and had expressed interests in attending for the first time for next year, because it was an age issue and/or financial burden to attend. Turning 18(rather the freedom of being 18) and getting a job was needed.
There are more websites for this type of interests as well.
I have a feeling it will be 4,000 or close it.
That is if there aren't any major events that will effect those #'s from now till the con.
Anyone up for a friendly bet? lol Eye-wink

I'm only betting my very sanity that we won't break 4000 people next year. That's enough!

Created a monster and the problem is we don't know what direction it's goin'....
Just thinking about it makes me wonder how are we going to house 4500 or more attendees?
I hopr they are building more hotels? That is in time.

Oh, I hear you! Particularly when they're dead - stacking 'em like cordwood, a basement that size will hold a thousand, easy!

Uhmmm...that isn't quite what you meant? Sorry - forget I even mentioned it! Merely the pressures of the upcoming Halloween...yeah, that's what it is...
