2008 Volunteer question

Well, I was a volunteer at this most recent Anthrocon. The bulk of the time I volunteered was after the closing ceremonies, over in the Art Show as it was closing up. As it happened, once things were figured out, I think the time totaled some 16.5 hours or somesuch. According to what was listed, that would mean I'd receive a T-Shirt. Since things were already closed up when I finished, I couldn't receive the shirt there, and was informed that it'd be mailed/shipped/whatever, and I'd get it at a later point. ...Not a problem, except that not too long ago, about two weeks ago, I moved, away from the location I was living at for the time, and had recorded on everything that asked for it. I will not be returning to the same address. However, I have rented a Post Office Box within the same city, and filled out and completed mail forwarding through the USPS for what SHOULD be the same name and address that I filled out both my registration and volunteering form for AC with, though I don't know how it'd handle something that would be a package that wouldn't fit into this 3x7" box. Now, I might be perhaps getting a little concerned over what would amount to nothing, but if it's the case that it might help things out, I wonder if it's possible to change the address here? I'd hate for that shirt to arrive at the doorstep of my old house, for more reasons than one. |

Anthrocon's staff goes on hiaitus after the convention for 1-3 months, depending on how stressful the con was on a given year.
Only last week I cracked open the box with the volunteer timesheets in it. Probably this upcoming weekend is when I'll venture into the jungle that is our storage room to see how many t-shirts we have left, and if I need to have more made.
It may be the following weekend before I get the time to mail them out.

That's what I thought, and it was good to hear confirmation that I needn't worry that it already wound up in the hands of some fellow (but strangers to me) students who would no doubt not quite understand. Thanks for both the answer AND taking your time.
This just leaves the question about the who/what/if/etc. of the "address change." Since I know an Email address was a requirement on the form, (or at least, I filled it out, perhaps addled by too much fun and too little sleep, with the staff none the wiser
) so perhaps because my case might not be unique, (since after all, it is a well-deserved month plus of break time, with 3,390 attendees, the majority in their 20s... Odds are that some will move during that time) what considerations are being taken? Perhaps a simple "email confirmation," with a chance to change one's mailing address?

Also to note: If you have a P.O.Box and packages too large for it, your typical post office will put a notice into the box saying "Your elephant and refrigerator from Amazon.com have arrived, go to the front desk and they'll bring them around."[*1]
And indeed, as Kage mentioned, this is kind of staff downtime. I myself have been offline for significant stretches on a road trip, and unable to keep up perfectly with emails, forums, etc. Around September, we all start getting back into the groove.

permalinkI too volunteered and did not receive my shirt, I had about 15.5 hours. If i remember correctly Giza said on closing day that they were already packed up. Is it possible if I still can get one?
