Hello Everyone I was offered a staff position at Anthrocon last year, and also by the tiger who runs registration. Is it possible to still get this? (was desertwolf98 then) I did have a volunteer time sheet from the 2005 event I never turned in, is this still valid? do I turn this in at the event, or is there a way I can "upgrade" to the super sponsorship level? (i'll still pay for the sponsorship, i'm not expecting it for free, just curious if there is a $40-$50 credit towards it or how the logistics are) if I can't, I don't mind also. And finally, travel/room logistics. What is a good time to show up for load in and load out? I was thinking of arriving on the 3rd of july (w00t! 4th of july in pittsburgh!) and leaving the 9th or 10th. I don't mind pitching in a extra set of paws to help load the convention in and empty it out, but I don't want to spend extra money on the room when that would only take a day to do (assuming that's what it takes) What's the typical amount of time spent setting up and tearing down? this helps plan the room I reserve, which helps with saving up for it also Thanks! -mohavewolfpup |

1) You would have to talk to our Registration Director. Email address is on the contact page.
2) Please mail your volunteer sheet to the Snail Mail address along the the questions pertaining to that.
3 and 4) We do equipment transport and set up on Wednesday, more transport and setup on Thursday, and teardown and transport on Sunday night and Monday morning.
Hope that helps!

If you are going to be a staff member in 2007, you do not need to send in a volunteer time sheet. We already own your sou...that is, we will provide a complimentary membership!

Say, I've got enough here to pay the full SuperSponsor fee, I don't care about discounts. I got my E-mail for registration already, but I want to know how I would send my payment for SuperSponsor in without making a secondary registration.

We're still working on a web-based module that will allow you to upgrade or update your registration. In the meantime, you can upgrade your registration by U.S. mail. Just send the difference (for a volunteer, it is an additional $140 to upgrade to a supersponsor) by check or money order, or write your credit card information on a nice letter indicating that you want to upgrade, and send it to:

On a related note...
I can't make AC this upcoming year. *sigh* It conflicts with another gathering for me, and and that one represents an important community and the end of a 2-year commitment for me. I'd be getting back from it halfway through AC too tired to see straight, and nobody wants to see me like that. I'll just have to wait for all of the stories and pictures afterwards, and hope to go in '08.
I believe i can come help with unpacking the truck into storage afterwards, however, if y'all (staffers) decide, at that time, that you could use an extra pair of claws. I would need to know how to get there via SEPTA (assuming it's public transportation accessible), since i don't know how to drive.
I know it's early enough that some of this may not even be on radar as yet. Under the circumstances, tho, does it make sense for me to check back with y'all about this closer to time, or is trying to get me out that way gonna be more trouble than it's worth?
I'm not devoted to the idea, so it's no big deal either way. I figure, if i can be useful...

*chuckles* Don't i wish.
Sadly, the logistics of dragging as many as 100 20-something Quakers (which is my chunk, to say nothing of the rest of the Gathering) across several states are pretty nightmarish, especielly when you've got a tight schedule and a handful of folks who have to back every evening to help with children's programming. Maybe some year i'll talk a couple of them into roadtripping back with me, tho; If AC ever turned out to be the weekend immediately following this other gather, it wouldn't be hard to just breeze in a day or two early and visit scenic pittsburgh.
