Last Day to Register: Extended to Saturday, June 7th!
Please visit our forums for the latest announcements and discussion.
|
Edit: Because of intense last-minute demand, and our desire to get everyone possible in, we've extended Pre-registration by twenty-four hours. You now have until 11:59pm EST on Saturday, June 7th to register. This is the last of the last chances, everyone! Pre-Registration not only gets you in a line which moves at least twice as fast as On-Site Registration, but it's $5 cheaper for Attending memberships, and only Pre-Registered SuperSponsors can attend the luncheon with Floyd Norman. Over 2,150 people have pre-registered already for Anthrocon 2008; these folks know the advantage to quick lines, discounts, and one less thing to worry about at the convention. http://www.anthrocon.org/registration is the URL. So Pre-Register! It's great for Anthrocon, and okay for you! --Chiaroscuro |

Make it your trademark expression then.
I already pre-registered a week ago, but I have not yet received anything in the mail. Should I worry?

Within 24 hours. Our batch updater runs about 4am-6am, and I've got to manually approve 122 last-day Registrations.
...almost all of which have been added since 2pm. Such last-minute folks. Tsk.

Umm, well oops
I was going to register but forgot.
How long do the lines usually take to get done completely? I can wait or come early to register at the door, since I'll be wearing a fursuit and stuff... I can just go geocaching anyway while I wait for the line to shrink.

My memory of registration (which, naturally, is vastly inferior to that of any reg staff)is that folks camp out in line long before registration starts around 10, and that the rush has usually settled down by 2 or 3 in the afternoon.
All in all, i'd just plan to get in line as soon as you get some breakfast and pack yourself a snack and a few things like a book or a sketch pad to keep yourself entertained. There's not much you can do to avoid a long wait, but it's really not so so bad; the other folks in line are friendly, and there's lots of people-watching to do.
I wouldn't fursuit while you wait, tho--for reasons that are probably pretty obvious to you.

permalinkIf my memory serves, the line is usually gone completely about 1pm Friday.
Thursday, there is a line. Period.
Friday morning, there's the line of those arriving Thursday night/Friday morning.

BlackJack says it well. For On-Site registration, we anticipate the line to be very long on Thursday, particularly early on; Friday it will be longest in the morning but should be processed through by the afternoon.
Anticipated opening times are 3pm Thursday and 10am Friday.

We actually try to discourage people from camping out. We need lots of room to set up our equipment, and there has to be a fairly wide open aisle for me to rush back and forth in a frantic panic over some little thing. That's my job at the con.

can't there be a fursuit line, like going to the fursuit lounge?

No. In fact, you must take off any fursuit head or other head covering at Registration, so that we can see your full and unobstructed face and match it with your picture identification.

On-site Registration will open, theoretically, at 3pm Thursday.
You may arrive in line at 2:59pm Thursday. Any earlier, and you will lose more time from waiting in line than you will save from having an 'early place' in line.
